Our Verdict

The ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q is an older 27-inch QHD IPS gaming monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate and a dedicated NVIDIA G-SYNC module, once one of the most sought-after gaming monitors, with more than 2,100 Amazon ratings at 4.4 stars. Its IPS panel still delivers good colour and smooth motion. Newer QHD monitors now offer similar or better specifications for much less, with FreeSync Premium that works with NVIDIA cards as G-SYNC Compatible, so the built-in G-SYNC module is no longer a strong reason to pay more. Monitors such as the Dell S2721DGF, LG 27GP850-B and ASUS TUF VG27AQ3A match or beat it. Choose the PG279Q only if you find it well below the price of those newer models; otherwise a current QHD high-refresh monitor is the better buy.
