The unified memory architecture means 24GB of M4 Pro memory outperforms 32GB of DDR5 on a Windows laptop for video editing because it's shared between CPU and GPU at much higher bandwidth. If your workflow is Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve on macOS, the MacBook Pro is the clear choice. Mac (M4/M5 Pro/Max) is more stable, faster at ProRes export, and the only choice for Final Cut Pro. Windows (RTX GPU) has more raw GPU compute per dollar for DaVinci Resolve CUDA effects. Both are excellent for 4K H.265 editing — choose based on your primary NLE and whether you use ProRes natively.

How much VRAM for 4K?
