Value Score Breakdown

Our Verdict

The ASUS V16 is the only laptop in this category with a dedicated RTX 5060 GPU, giving it a clear advantage in CUDA-accelerated workflows: GPU effects in Adobe Premiere Pro, noise reduction in DaVinci Resolve, and 3D compositing in Blender run significantly faster than on integrated graphics or Apple Silicon. At $1,417.06, it costs $120 more than the MacBook Air M5 ($1,297). The main constraints are 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD: video editing generates large project caches, and 512GB fills quickly. A 2TB NVMe upgrade is straightforward on this platform but adds cost and effort. With only 29 Amazon reviews, real-world ownership data is limited. For Windows editors running effects-heavy Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve timelines who can manage storage externally, the V16 fills a capability gap the MacBook Air cannot. For Final Cut Pro users and editors who prioritize silence and battery life over GPU rendering speed, the MacBook Air M5 is the better fit.
