Value Score Breakdown
Our Verdict
The JBL Tune 520BT is a simple, light pair of wireless on-ear headphones built around battery life. JBL rates it for up to 57 hours of playback, and a 5-minute charge over USB-C adds about 3 hours, so most people will charge it once a week or less. It connects over Bluetooth 5.3, folds flat for a bag, and the free JBL Headphones app adds an adjustable EQ if the default bass-forward tuning is too much. Buttons on the ear cup handle calls and music, and Voice Aware lets you hear your own voice during calls. It has no active noise cancelling, and on-ear pads press on the ears rather than around them, which some people find tiring over a long day. It also carries one of the strongest buyer ratings in our headphones list, across thousands of ratings. Choose it for commuting, school or calls on a tight budget. If you want to block out a plane or train, a noise cancelling model like the Soundcore Q20i or Q30 is the better buy.
