RTX 5070 Ti Now Costs Twice Its Launch Price

The cheapest RTX 5070 Ti on Amazon US costs $1,459.99 today, October 24, almost double the $749 NVIDIA launched it at. Unless you need an NVIDIA feature, the RX 9070 XT gives you the same 16GB of memory and similar speed for $540 less.

How much does an RTX 5070 Ti cost now?

All three RTX 5070 Ti cards we track cost between 95% and 110% more than the launch price, and about 20% more than their own 90-day averages. Prices below are the lowest new offer on October 24; the 90-day average is from Keepa.

None of the three had an offer sold by Amazon itself on October 24, so these are third-party prices. Keepa shows Amazon selling the ASUS Prime for as little as $900 in the past six months.

Why are graphics card prices going up?

Graphics card prices are rising because memory is scarce. Wccftech reported on October 23, citing the Chinese trade channel Board Channels, that RTX 5070 Ti spot prices in China rose by about 600 RMB (about $100) and RTX 5080 prices by more than 2,000 RMB (about $300), with ASUS and GIGABYTE both raising their RTX 50 series prices. The reason given: DRAM makers are prioritising HBM memory for AI accelerators, so the GDDR7 on these cards costs more and is harder to get. Wccftech says such increases usually reach US and European retailers within one to two weeks.

What should you buy instead of an RTX 5070 Ti?

For most gamers, the PowerColor Reaper RX 9070 XT is the better buy at $919.99. It has 16GB of memory like the RTX 5070 Ti, launch reviews from Tom's Hardware and TechPowerUp put the two cards close in games without ray tracing, and in Modern Warfare 4 the RX 9070 XT ran faster than even an RTX 5080 in DSOGaming's October 23 tests. It is up 33% since July too, but that ties for the smallest rise in the table above.

The RTX 5070 Ti still makes sense if you rely on DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, NVIDIA's ray tracing features or CUDA for creative work. In that case, the GIGABYTE Gaming OC is the cheapest of the three and has the most Amazon ratings, 727 at 4.5 stars.

My verdict

Don't pay double for an RTX 5070 Ti unless you need NVIDIA's software. Buy the RX 9070 XT if you need a card now, and if your current card still runs your games, waiting costs you nothing while prices are this high.
