What resolution are you gaming at?
The most important factor in GPU selection is your monitor's resolution. For 1080p gaming: an RTX 4060 Ti delivers excellent performance. For 1440p gaming: an RTX 4070 Super is the sweet spot. For 4K gaming: RTX 4070 Ti Super or higher is needed for high-frame-rate play. Buying a GPU that exceeds what your monitor can display is wasted money.
VRAM: why 8GB is becoming limiting
Modern games like Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and newer titles push VRAM usage beyond 8GB at high settings. The RTX 4060 Ti 8GB struggles with VRAM-heavy games at 1440p. The 16GB variant of the same GPU sidesteps this — or consider stepping up to the RTX 4070 Super (12GB). For 1080p gaming, 8GB is still sufficient for most titles.
Our Value Score methodology for GPUs
We rank GPUs by 3DMark TimeSpy score per dollar — an objective measure of rasterization performance relative to price. This score updates daily as Amazon prices change. A GPU that costs less today can jump in rank relative to one that increased in price. Use our rankings to find the current best value, not just spec-sheet comparisons.
