Value Score Breakdown

Our Verdict

With over 11,000 verified ratings at 4.7 stars, the Ryzen 5 5500 is the most reviewed CPU in our entire catalog — a genuine budget classic. Six cores and twelve threads handle 1080p gaming and everyday computing comfortably, and it ships with AMD's Wraith Stealth cooler included, so there's no extra cooling cost. It's a cut-down Zen 3 core with a smaller cache than the 5600, so it trails in heavier multi-threaded work, but at under $80 it's the cheapest legitimate path into AM4 gaming we stock.
