Our Verdict
Gamers who also stream, encode, or run background tasks will find the 7700X's extra two cores over the 7600X meaningful for split workloads — the 7700X's 5.4 GHz boost and 8-core count keep it competitive in both gaming and creation without crossing into HEDT pricing. At $240 with a 79/100 value score, it sits $65 above the Ryzen 5 7600X ($175, 82/100) which scores 3 points higher. For pure gaming the 7600X wins on value; the 7700X earns its premium only if the workload genuinely uses more than 6 cores — streaming at 1440p, Handbrake encoding, or multi-VM setups. If the use case is primarily gaming, save $65.
