Value Score Breakdown
Our Verdict
The ASUS RT-AX55 is a dual-band WiFi 6 router rated AX1800, suited to apartments and smaller homes, with ASUS's AiProtection security from Trend Micro included without a subscription and support for ASUS AiMesh, which lets you add other ASUS routers later to extend coverage. It has a 3-year warranty and more than 3,200 Amazon ratings at 4.4 stars. AX1800 is entry-level WiFi 6, plenty for typical internet plans and a few dozen devices. The TP-Link Archer AX21 offers the same AX1800 rating and has often cost less in our price data, so the ASUS earns its place through free security features and AiMesh. Choose the RT-AX55 for a simple, secure WiFi 6 router from a brand with strong firmware support; for the lowest price, compare the Archer AX21.
