Our Verdict

Ryzen 7000/9000 builders who specifically need X870's mandatory USB4 ports — for Thunderbolt-compatible docks, high-speed external storage, or dual-display connectivity — at the lowest available X870 entry price will find the X870 Eagle WIFI7 the cheapest door into the X870 tier at $169.99. It undercuts the MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi ($227.99) by $58 and the ASUS ROG Strix X870-A ($250) by $80. WiFi 7 is standard at this price point, providing forward compatibility with 6 GHz tri-band routers. The Eagle heatsink tier means lighter VRM cooling than AORUS or X870E boards — appropriate for Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7, not the board for a Ryzen 9 9950X under sustained all-core workloads. For a Ryzen 7 9700X build where USB4 and WiFi 7 are needed at the lowest sensible price, this is the correct X870 entry point.
