Our Verdict

The LG UltraGear 27GP850-B is a 27-inch QHD Nano IPS gaming monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate, a 1ms response time and wide colour coverage of 98% of DCI-P3, which makes it vivid for games and capable for photo and video work. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium and is G-SYNC Compatible, and has nearly 2,000 Amazon ratings at 4.5 stars. QHD at 165Hz suits mid-range and upper-mid graphics cards. Its main rival, the Dell S2721DGF, has more neutral colour out of the box and a better stand, while the newer ASUS TUF VG27AQ3A reaches 180Hz and has often cost less. The wide colour gamut can look oversaturated in standard content without the sRGB mode enabled. Choose the 27GP850-B for a vibrant 1440p gaming monitor that doubles for creative work; buy the cheapest of the three if colour range isn't a priority.
