Our Verdict

The Lutron Caseta hub is not a general smart home hub. It is a bridge for Lutron's own Caseta ecosystem — dimmers, switches, plug-in modules, and fan controllers — using Lutron's proprietary Clear Connect RF protocol rather than Zigbee, Z-Wave, or Thread. At $89.95 with 1,951 Amazon reviews and a 1-year warranty, the hardware reputation is solid. Clear Connect operates interference-free and Lutron claims reliable range across multi-floor homes. The limitation is strict: this hub does nothing without Caseta devices. It also comes in two versions — the standard hub covers Alexa and Google Home, but HomeKit integration requires the more expensive SmartBridge Pro variant. If you also need to manage Zigbee sensors or Z-Wave locks, you will need a completely separate hub. The Aqara M200 at $69.99 handles Zigbee, Thread, and Matter for $20 less with no ecosystem lock-in. Right buy for: existing Lutron Caseta switch or dimmer owners who need the official hub to enable voice control and scheduling — not for anyone starting fresh without pre-existing Caseta hardware.
