Our Verdict

The SteelSeries Apex 3 at $47 is a full-size membrane keyboard with 10-zone RGB and IP32 water resistance — a practical spec if drinks near the keyboard are a real concern. The membrane switches are not mechanical; they lack the tactile precision of mechanical switches but are noticeably quieter. At $47 it costs $17 more than the Redragon K671 hot-swappable mechanical at $30, which delivers real mechanical switches for less money. The Apex 3's advantages are the 2-year SteelSeries warranty, 7,627 verified reviews, and the IP32 splash protection — a spec no mechanical keyboard in this price range matches. Right buy for: office environments where quieter key feel and splash resistance matter more than mechanical switch precision, or for buyers who want a recognised brand name and a 2-year warranty under $50 and can live without mechanical actuation.
