The Thermaltake Smart 500W is a basic, non-modular power supply for budget builds and office PCs, with more than 11,000 Amazon ratings at 4.6 stars, one of the strongest buyer records of any PSU we list. Its 80 Plus White certification means at least 80% efficiency, lower than Gold-rated units, so it runs slightly warmer and uses a little more electricity. All cables are permanently attached, which makes tidy cable management harder in small cases. Five hundred watts is enough for a PC with integrated graphics or an entry graphics card such as an RTX 5060 or Radeon RX 7600 paired with a 65W processor. It is not the right choice for high-end cards. Choose the Smart 500W for a first budget build or to replace a failed supply in an older PC; for anything above entry-level graphics, a 650W or 750W Gold unit is safer.
