Our Verdict
The SABRENT EC-SNVE's reason to exist is compatibility: it reads both NVMe and M.2 SATA drives, so it rescues older SATA drives that NVMe-only enclosures cannot see. It is tool-free, runs at 10Gbps over USB-C and takes 2242, 2260 and 2280 drives, but not the short 2230 size. Sabrent notes there is no clearance for a drive heatsink, so remove any heatsink before installing. NVMe drives reach around 1,000 MB/s; SATA drives are limited to SATA's own speed of roughly 550 MB/s. Choose it if you have a drawer of mixed old M.2 drives or are not sure which type you have. If you only use NVMe drives, a cheaper NVMe-only enclosure does the same job.
