The Elgato Prompter is built for content creators who record talking-head video and need to maintain eye contact with the camera while reading a script. Its built-in display is the key differentiator from DIY rigs that use a phone behind beam-splitter glass — the dedicated screen removes the dependency on using a phone for two purposes simultaneously. At $299.99 it mounts in front of a webcam, DSLR, or cinema camera and connects via USB-C to a laptop running Elgato's prompter software. Trade-off: the integrated display is not upgradeable, and $299.99 is expensive relative to full-sized teleprompter rigs with larger displays available for similar money. For creators shooting on a desk or studio setup who want a compact, professional prompter without a phone-mount workaround, the Elgato Prompter is the most polished plug-and-play solution in the consumer tier.
