It is bus-powered, plug-and-play USB 3.0, and draws from the same 272,745-review data pool as the 4TB variant. For light portable backup of photos, documents, or a handful of large files, it serves the purpose. At $119.99/TB it is the most expensive per-terabyte drive in this category. The WD Elements 5TB ($216.00) stores 5x the data for 1.8x the price. The Maxone 500GB ($37.99) is the correct choice when an ultra-slim form factor and sub-$40 price are the priorities. Buy the Seagate Portable 1TB when 1TB is the right size and bus-powered portability is required. For anyone open to 4TB or 5TB capacity, the Seagate Portable 4TB ($189.99) or WD Elements 5TB ($216.00) are immediately better value per terabyte.
