Value Score Breakdown

Our Verdict

The 13.8-inch Surface Laptop with the 10-core Snapdragon X Plus is the value pick of Microsoft's line-up. It has the same body, keyboard and 120Hz touchscreen as the Snapdragon X Elite model above it, with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD, so for documents, browsing, video calls and photo edits most buyers will not miss the faster chip. Microsoft rates the 13.8-inch model at up to 20 hours of battery life, and its USB-C and USB-A ports cover most accessories without a dongle. Like every Snapdragon Surface it runs Windows 11 on Arm, so check that any older business software, printer drivers or games with anti-cheat support it first. It is sold by a third-party seller here, so check the return policy. Choose it if you want a premium Windows ultrabook without paying for the X Elite; step up to the X Elite model if you need 1TB of storage.
