Our Verdict

The MSI Katana 15 HX is the budget path to RTX 5070 performance in this category at $1,869.99. The i9-14900HX with 8 P-cores at 5.8 GHz and 16 E-cores provides CPU headroom for streaming, game modding, and multi-application workloads that the i7 CPUs in lower-tier machines can't match. The RTX 5070 handles 1440p gaming in demanding titles where the RTX 5060 begins to show frame-rate strain. The primary rival is the Lenovo Legion 5 15IRX10 RTX 5070 OLED ($2,095), which costs $225 more for a 2560x1600 165Hz OLED display versus the Katana's standard IPS panel. The 4.0-star rating from 347 reviews is the lowest among RTX 5070 options here; reviews consistently flag fan noise at sustained load. For RTX 5070 performance at the lowest price available in this category, the Katana 15 HX is the choice. Buyers who prioritize display quality or quieter thermals should pay the $225 premium for the Legion 5 OLED.
