The WD Red Pro 20TB is WD's high-capacity professional NAS hard drive: 7,200 RPM with a 512MB cache, conventional (CMR) recording, a 300TB-per-year workload rating for enclosures of up to 24 bays, and a 5-year warranty. Twenty terabytes per bay lets a NAS hold a very large archive with fewer drives, saving power and slots. The Red Pro family has more than 2,300 Amazon ratings at 3.9 stars, a larger record than the Seagate IronWolf Pro 20TB, with a similar average. Third-party sellers have often set its price on Amazon, so check the seller before buying. It is louder and warmer than 5,400 RPM home NAS drives. Choose the Red Pro 20TB for a busy multi-bay NAS or small-business server where capacity per bay and the 5-year warranty matter; for a quiet home NAS, a Red Plus or standard IronWolf costs less.
