Our Verdict
The MSI Katana 15 with an RTX 4070 is a previous-generation gaming laptop pairing an Intel Core i7 with NVIDIA's RTX 4070 laptop GPU and its 8GB of memory. It handles current games at 1080p on high settings and many at 1440p, with DLSS 3 frame generation in supported titles. The Katana line is MSI's value range: the chassis is plastic, the fans get loud under load, and the thin design can limit how long the GPU holds peak performance. It has nearly 400 Amazon ratings at 4.2 stars. Newer RTX 5060 and 5070 laptops add DLSS 4 multi-frame generation and often cost about the same. Choose the Katana 15 RTX 4070 only if it is clearly cheaper than current-generation laptops; otherwise an RTX 5070 model such as the Katana 15 HX is the better buy.
