The TP-Link TL-SG105S-M2 is the smaller, cheaper route to 2.5G networking: five 2.5Gbps ports in a silent, unmanaged switch. It suits a desk with a multi-gig internet connection, or a PC and NAS pair that both have 2.5G ports. Gigabit devices plugged into it work normally at 1Gbps. It can sit on a desk or mount on a wall. With one port used for the uplink, you get four multi-gig ports, which is enough for a focused setup but tight for a whole home. If you need more than four devices at 2.5G, the eight-port TL-SG108S-M2 or BrosTrend 2.5G switch is the better buy. Check that your devices actually support 2.5G before paying extra over gigabit.
